The Royal Crown traverse. Above Zermatt – Switzerland

This is a high altitude mountaineering traverse covering 12 peaks in 10 days. Staying in huts, allow us to carry small packs and travel at a faster pace.

The highest hut is Marguarita at 4,554 meters.  located on top of the Signalkuppe Peak and has spectacular panoramic views of the Alps.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Meet in Zermatt, review gear and condition. (Hotel night)

Day 2: Ride the Gornergrat train to Rottenboden. Hike to Monte Rosa Hut

Day 3: Ascent of Monte Rosa 4,634m. Continue and traverse to Grenzgipfel. Down climb to catch the ridge leading to Zumsteinspitze at 4,563m. Continue to Marguarita hut , Signalkuppe 4,554m. where we spend the night.

Day 4: Traverse of Ludwigshohe 4,341m. Parrotspitze 4,432m, . Balmenhorn 4,167m. Corno Nero 4,321m and Pyramid Vincent 4,215m, descent to Gnifetti hut for the night.

Day 5: Ascent of Liskamm. 4,527m. (depend on condition. Either via the ridge or the Naze) night at the Quintino Sella hut 3,585m.

Day 6: Climb Castor 4,228m. climb Pollux down to Val D’ayas hut

Day 7: climb and traverse the Breithorn. traverse to Klein Matterhorn and descent to Zermatt

Day 8: Rest day in Zermatt

Day 9-10: Matterhorn ascent

Day 11: Extra day.
