Hello to all mountain lovers. we just finished the hiker’s haute route from Chamonix to Zermatt. A great 8 days trek across the Alps for the town and mecca of alpinism of Chamonix to Zermatt the Capital of alpine mountaineering. we cross over many passes, jump over mountain streams, smell the flowers and observe the Ibex playing freely. Each night we stayed either in a mountain lodge or alpine hut, tasted Swiss fondue and ” eau de vie” like abricotine or poor william. We had simply say a wonderful time.
There is three haute routes. The ski mountaineering haute route open from mid-March until mid-May. it require a very good fitness level and strong skiing skills. the route takes the high passes, crosses glaciers and some sections are technical with rappelling, use of crampons and ice axes.
The mountaineer haute route in the summer follow more os less same route as the winter on. Each day we cross glaciers, high passes, we are equipped with ropes, harness, crampons, ice axes and stay mostly in alpine huts
The hikers haute route follow the trails just below the glaciers and is not technical, the trails are good with a daily vertical gain of 4,000 to 5,000 ft. we crosses high passes between 2,500 meters to 2,900 meters. for the nights we stop in mountain lodges, inn, hotels and alpine huts. the luggage’s are transfer from lodge to lodge so we hike with a small pack ( except for 2 nights).
