Aspen Backcountry Ski Camp

Experience great backcountry skiing in Aspen and learn to ski anywhere with confidence!
You will learn all-mountain ski tactics and techniques that will allow you to ski any type of snow in any condition. We will use the backcountry around Aspen, Aspen Highlands and Snowmass, this is the best classroom in the world! You will learn about backcountry skiing travel techniques including avalanche safety. By the end you will have a new outlook on adventure skiing and it will open the world for new skiing adventure!
Course goal: To give you an overview of all the skills require to skiing safely in the backcountry. This camp is a perfect preparation for any skiers who want to go heli or snowcat skiing or ski mountaineering like the Haute route in the Alps, ski a fourteener or simply be able to ski anywhere.

Jean Pavillard an International mountain guide IFMGA, certified ski instructor,adventurer. Born and raise in Switzerland, base in Colorado since 1984, Jean has travel the world guiding clients from all over. He guided on all the seven continents, skiing and climbing. Guided the 7 summits. Directed the Crested Butte ski school. Developed ski guide courses for the American mountain guide association, founded the American Institute for avalanche research and education. Jean worked as Head judge for the extreme ski competition in Crested Butte and Chamonix France, worked with the safety team in valdez world extreme ski championship. Organize the Cristal cup in Leysin a competition that include speed skiing, ski races of old glory vs. public, snowboard competition. He teaches the ski courses for the BMG, ski guide in Colorado, the Alps, Japan, Africa, Canada and much more.
