SPRING 2009

                                                 SKI TRAVERSE. FROM LEYSIN TO GRIMSEL ITNERARY.


Day 1: Meet in leysin review gear, condition

Day 2: Transfer to les Diablerets, ride the lift to Diablerets glacier and start the tour, traverse to Gelten hut,  via
Arpelistock, 3,035m. Night at Gelten hut.

Day 3: From Gelten hut to Wildhorn hut via  the Wildhorn, 3,246m.

Day 4: From the wildhorn hut to wildstrubel hut via the Schniderhorn 2,937m.

Day 5: From Wildstrubel hut to Gemmi pass hotel. We will traverse the Plaine Morte, Climb the Wildstrubel 3,243m. and
enjoy a great descent to Lammerzee.

Day 6: Gemmi pass to Kandersteg via the Stegpass and down to Ueschinen,Kandersteg. Hotel in Kandersteg for  the
nigth

Day 7: Transfer to Jungfraujoch by train, ski to Concordia hut

Day 8: Ski Grunneghorn and return to Concordia hut

Day 9: Concordia hut to Finteraar hut 3,048m. via the Grunhornlucke 3,286m. we will have the option  to ski ; Weissnollen
3,594m. Agassihorn 3,953m.

Day 10: Finsteraar to Oberaar hut, 3,223m. But first we will ski either the Finsteraarhorn at 4,274m. or tte Gross
Wannenhorn 3,905m.

Day 11: Oberaar hut to Munster and return to leysin. Just  out of the hut we will ski ascent the Galmihorn 3,517m. then we
will ski down to Munster at 1,388 m. An exceptional descent starting across glacier, passing by alpine level, high meadow,
and finishing in the forest. Just amazing !!!!(7,026 ft vertical !!!!!!!!!!!!)


Difficulty:
This tour crosses the entire Berner Oberland, each day are moderate to difficult. This tour is physically demanding.
However it has two distinct sections and one hotel night in between that will provide great rest.  You must be able to ski any
type of snow with a pack

Hotel in Kandersteg with breakfast (1 night)

Satellite phone ( per minute charge)
Luggage’s transfer to Kandersteg and tba. (base on your post tour plan)


Service does not include:

Transfer to leysin and from Munster
Meals in town, (Kandersteg, leysin)
Picnic lunches, snacks
Hotel Nights and meals in Leysin
Personal gear
Rescue insurance
Incidentals

We will spend one night in a hotel in kandersteg, there we will have our luggage’s deliver so we will be able to change,
shower and enjoy a great meal in a fine restaurant.
Our luggage’s will then be transfer to Brig for us to pick up at the end of the tour. From Brig you will be able to reach any
major city by train. Zurich, via the loschtberg, Geneva via Lausanne. Please let me know of your travel plan and I will help
you book an hotel.

MEETING: we will meet in leysin or Les Diablerets. Please let me know of your travel plan and I will help you book a hotel.
The hotel availability may vary base on the number of nights you will be staying.


Ski Mountaineering Equipment List

Technical gear:

Transceiver/Shovel/probe
Harness & Prussiks
2 Locking carabiners
Ice axe (short 40 to 50 cm.) & Crampons

Personal gear:

Alpine Touring skis with AT bindings or telemark skis
Alpine Touring boots or telemark boots (make sure they fit well)
Ski crampons / Adjustable poles / Climbing skins
Snowboard package. (I recommend the split board system)
Back pack (45L)
Warm Hat (wool or fleece) & Sun hat or visor
Sunglasses & Goggles (flexible and carrying case)
Light weight gloves  (fleece) & Heavy weight gloves or mittens w/ Goretex shells
Neck gaiter or scarf

Layering system:

Light, Mid weight Capilene underwear - Zip-T (turtleneck) top and bottoms (1 set)
Warm socks and liners (2 sets)
Sweater or Synchilla fleece jacket/ pullover
Jacket - Goretex with good hood & Ski pants and  Goretex pants
Cotton T- shirt  - for hut (1)
Down coat is not useful but if you do bring one, make sure it is very compact. Better to use a puffball style.


Other items

Camera, film & batteries / Sunscreen & lip screen
Personal items - toothbrush, toothpaste, handi-wipes
Extra pair of prescription glasses or contacts (and contact solutions) - if applicable
Prescription medication / Small first aid kit - aspirin, Advil, moleskin, tape
Head lamp & batteries
Water bottle - Nalgene (1) and Thermos - unbreakable
Ear plugs / Passport
Money for extra food and incidentals in huts
