Haute Route Chamonix – Courmayeur – Verbier – Arolla – Grimentz.
Itinerary:
Meeting in Chamonix : September , 2009
Day 1: Hike around Chamonix. From Lac Blue enjoy spectacular view of the Mont Blanc 4,848m. Les Drus, mer
de Glace, Aiguille rouge and more.
Day 2: Ride lift to Aiguille du Midi, traverse by lift to Punta Helbronner ( option: we can cross the valley blanche ,
it require crampons, harness , rope, ice axe) Down to La Palud for the night ( if we don’t cross the valley blanche
on foot, hike down from mid-station. Night at la Palud hotel finuvia
Day 3: Val Ferret – La fouly
A short transfer or a longer hike will lead us along the Val Ferret below the Grande Jorasse, over the Grand or
Petit col Ferret (2537m) and down to La Fouly for the night ,In Switzerland.
Day 4: from la Fouly , we will hike down the val Ferret passing many typical Swiss village and up to verbier and
Mt fort hut. ( small transfer using public transport) . Night at Mt fort hut.
Day 5: Mt fort hut to Louvie hut.
From Mt fort hut we will head toward val de Bagne, fionnay and Louvie Hut.
The trail traverse col “de Ternin” with a short expose section. A steep descent brings us to the lac de Louvie and
the hut for the night.
Day 6: Louvie to Praz-fleuri
Two passes are on the menu for todays splendid hike, Louvie pass (9639’), Prafleuri pass (9857’). Rocky
scenery punctuated by glaciers where the Ibex remains the king. This long, and very beautiful section, will rest
engraved upon the memory. Night at the newly renovated Cabane Prafleuri.
Day 7: Praz-fleuri to Arolla
From Prafleuri Hut to Arolla.
An early start will bring us at Col des Roux 40minutes above the hut for sunrise and views. After a descent, We
will hike along the Grande Dixence lake to Pas du Chat, walking along the moraine and crossing the Cheilon
Glacier. We will climb the ladder of Pas de Chevre and hike down to the beautiful alpine town of Arolla.
We can cross the gorge at the end of the lake and climb to Riedmatten pass
Bypassing the Pas de Chevres.
Lodging: Hotel Des Glaciers. Or to change we can go sleep in les hauderes.
Day 8: Arolla - Grimentz – Chamonix
From the quaint town of Arolla, we will transfer to Les Hauderes and Le Mayen de Cotter by bus. From the Mayen
we will hike over Col du Torrent, descend to Lac des Autannes, soaking in as much of the view as possible
since this is one of the most incredible views of the Moiry glacier, Grand Cornier and Pointe de Mourty. We will
continue the descent to the Barrage de Moiry and the town of Grimentz. Transfer to Chamonix.
Today we have few options: base on the drop off, which pass we wish to take
And we can walk all the way to Grimentz.
Difficulty: Moderate to strenuous
6 to 8 hours per day (8 to 14 miles with 3,000 ft vertical up and down)
Best season: June to September
Cost: $ 2,700
Base on Minimum 4 persons.

Lodging during the tour ( ½ pension in Mt huts and Inns, with breakfast in hotels)
