Polar adventure in the Spitzbergen, April 12-19, 2009
An experience to live in a breathtaking landscape! Located in the Svalbard's archipelago, the Spitzbergen island offers a unique winter
panorama made of mountains and glaciers frozen in the icepack, the polar bear's territory. For base camp we are staying in the
colorfull mining town of Longyearbyen, from where we explore the slopes nearby the Fjord. The reached summits stand from 800 to
1100 m above sea level and the difficulties are from intermediate to good skier. For the evening (midnightsun will be on April 20th),
the town offers many different awesome spots satisfying the finest gourmet. The wine amateurs will enjoy the richness of
the reknown cellar at the « Huset ».Once acclimatized to the cold, we leave for two « nights » camping, or if you wish you can
create a memorable adventure digging a cave in the snow. For the curious, a snowmobile excursion can be organised, to discover
other outstanding places, like the trappers cabins, russians mining towns and spectacular icefields reaching
the frozen sea. To travel in this nature made of silence, leaves a trace in our Being...
